We confirm that EVGA will not produce Nvidia-based video cards with the latest RTX GPUs.
EVGA has been in the market for graphics cards since 1999. Han says they will not work with either Intel or AMD in producing their graphics cards because they have been making them since RIVA TNT2 chips.
EVGA plans to continue its work in graphics cards and not close up shop as a result of doing business with Nvidia. It's had a quick response to Nvidia's decision, so there may not even be layoffs at EVGA.
Jon Peddie Research and Gamers Nexus found that EVGA's relationship with Nvidia changed from a true partnership to an arrangement where EVGA was no longer included in announcements, not able to attend events, and unaware of changes in price.
"EVGA is committed to our customers and will continue to offer sales and support on our current lineup of graphics cards," the company said. "Also, EVGA would like to say thank you to the community for their many years of support and enthusiasm for our graphics cards."
Nvidia says it doesn't have many specifics to share about its future products and goals, but that's all we're getting for now. I think we can make assumptions from their background as a $328B company that they would have more information to share if they didn't have those limiting factors.
After EVGA left the business of Nvidia graphics cards, we assume that other manufacturers will fill in. There is an upcoming GPU related to RTX: Project Beyond. We believe this to be related to the new GeForce RTX graphics card series.
An EVGA CEO told Gamers Nexus that he doesn't plan to retire or sell the company.
